Holiday Card Messages for Real Estate Agents

A real estate agent's holiday card should thank past clients for trusting you with a move, wish them a happy season in their home, and close warmly, in two or three sentences. Leave out market updates, home value offers and referral requests so the card reads as a thank-you, not a mailer.

Past clients and your sphere are the people most likely to think of you the next time someone they know is moving, and a card once a year keeps your name with them without asking for anything. Below are messages you can use as written, grouped by who's getting the card.

Messages for past clients

  • Wishing you a warm and happy holiday season in your home. Thank you for letting me be part of your move.
  • It was a privilege to help you find your home. Wishing you and your family a joyful season and a happy new year.
  • Here's to many more holidays in the place you call home. Thank you for your trust, and happy holidays.
  • Thank you for being such a great client. I hope your home is full of good people and good food this season.
  • Season's greetings from [Your Name] and everyone at [Brokerage]. Thank you for your trust.

For clients who bought or sold this year

  • Congratulations on your first holiday season in your new home. Thank you for letting me help you get there.
  • Wishing you a happy holiday season in your new home, and many more to come.
  • Thank you for trusting me with the sale of your home this year. Wishing you a wonderful first holiday season in your next chapter.

For your sphere

Friends, neighbors and past contacts who haven't worked with you yet:

  • Wishing you and yours a happy holiday season and a great 2027. Thank you for being part of my year.
  • From my family to yours, happy holidays. It's always good to hear from you.

For referral partners

Lenders, title officers, inspectors and other agents who send you business:

  • Thank you for every introduction this year. I take good care of the people you send my way. Happy holidays.
  • Good partners make every closing smoother. Thank you for yours, and best wishes for a great 2027.

Lighter lines

Use one line, not a whole card of puns.

  • Wishing you a holiday season with no leaks, no drafts and plenty of cheer.
  • There's no place like home for the holidays. Enjoy every minute in yours.
  • Home is where the holidays are. Wishing you a cozy season in yours.

Christmas or holiday wording?

If you don't know that everyone on your list celebrates Christmas, "happy holidays" or "season's greetings" is the safe choice. If your community sends Christmas cards, "Merry Christmas" is fine. Our guide on what to write in a business holiday card has more options for both.

What to leave out

  • Market reports and home value offers.
  • "Thinking of selling?" lines and listing promotions.
  • Requests for referrals or reviews.
  • Your sales numbers for the year.

Consider a Thanksgiving card

Some firms send Thanksgiving cards for real estate clients instead, so the card arrives before the December rush. A Thanksgiving message can lean on gratitude: This Thanksgiving, I'm thankful for clients like you. Wishing you a warm holiday at home with the people you love.

For staying in touch the rest of the year, see our post on greeting card marketing strategies for real estate agents.

A line about your charity

Each year, we donate at least 10% of net proceeds from greeting card sales to charity. When you customize your card, you pick any IRS-recognized 501(c)(3). Agents often pick a charity in the neighborhoods they serve and name it in the card: This year, our holiday cards support [Charity Name].

Save time on the mailing

If you're sending to 100 or more past clients, we can print, address and mail your holiday cards for you. Every envelope is addressed with a real ballpoint pen and mailed by the date you choose. It costs $2.25 to $4.75 per recipient before postage, with larger mailings at the low end. Postage is USPS First-Class at cost.

When to send

Aim for your cards to arrive in the first two weeks of December. Our guide on when to send business holiday cards has the mail-by dates.
